This weekend was incredibly productive and I just must share it with you! I didn't leave my apartment much or really see people, but maybe that's why it was so great? eh? is that bad?

Anyway, I edited loads and loads of pictures! So many pictures have just been sitting on my desktop. Honestly, as much as I love taking pictures and going through them, it is one hell of a daunting task! I get so wrapped up in the images and honestly it's just draining! Anyway, I put on my big girl underwear and busted out some editing and completed a couple albums and cd's for clients. Yay!

and, of course i must share some pictures of my gorgeous family. The gene lottery has been good to these folks.

Let's see. after some editing, i continued to clean and pack up some of my apartment. Right now, the walls are so bare and it definitely looks like a college kids apartment. two more weeks of this limbo and back home I go for two more weeks! Then to TN... yikes!

I'll blog more soon! Just can't quite focus all my thoughts for the time being. too much to be done!

there are two occasions in my life where bangs were created. Once was back during these days:

76106_1479031464033_3504035_n

i'd say these bangs were pretty adorable. i'm pretty sure at this age, my parents made all the hair decisions for me, so i'm just happy they didn't go with a mullet. i may have been a tad upset with that outcome.

the second time i went with bangs, it was a well thought out, planned decision. I wasn't sure how they would look on my much older face, so i didn't want  them to ruin any big events (believe me, my life is exciting back then and i had big events to attend all the time. oh, no? yeah, you're probably right. nevermind. forget it).

anyway, it was freshman year of high school and i decided to make the leap and try them again. turns out they covered my awkwardly large forehead, the occasional puberty acne break out, and only took the occasional extra care when my cowlick acted up. i would insert a picture here, but after 20 minutes of flipping back through high school pictures, I've decided that the world does not need to be reintroduced to my terrible fashion decisions. i'm cringing.

moving on! I did it again. split decision last night, I called up my roommate who has cut quite a few bangs in her career and showed up to the newsroom where she works and she cut them. over a trashcan. with desk scissors. I apologize right now to all my beauty school friends and i'll be sure to come in for a real regular trim, but as i said- spur of the moment decision. and, they actually turned out great!! and i love them. so there. Kaitlyn, you're a rockstar.

I'm lucky enough to be surrounded by cultured and adventurous people who drag me along. Last night, I watched a roller derby bout for the first time, and it was really exciting! Not something I will ever do, but definitely a demanding and risky sport. Couldn't help but take some pictures while there of the race... And some of the people.

Seriously though, set me up with a bag of junior mints and some diet coke and I could people watch for days.

no. i'm not a triathalon person. I do like swimming, running, and biking, but for a long period of time and racing against other people? no. I'll carry on in my lackadaisical pace rockin to Ke$ha on my own, thanks. but, i'm so proud of my father. he's entering yet another summer chalk full of triathlons to compete in and has been training so very hard in order to compete well. He's completely transformed his body and his attitude towards exercising and has become quite the threat to other racers!

last weekend he started off his season with a race down in Lewiston. my cousins, aunt & uncle, brother, and mom and I all cheered him on enthusiastically.

i'm becoming that person that is constantly taking pictures. that leaf, that tree, your face, 10 million more pictures of your face (sorry steve!). i know it gets obnoxious and seems ridiculous, but i don't want to miss the moment. I want to capture each smile, each sunset, and every pathetic outfit photo (new top, guys!). so, please forgive me. when you see me pull out my phone to start snapping an obscene amount of pictures of whatever activity we're doing, you've got two options. one, roll your eyes and jump out of my way. or two, jump in the frame and be documented as awesome. your move, friends. your move.

I got nominated by a friend and fellow blogger for a Liebster Award! thank you, thank you. the rules are simple- I list 11 facts about myself, answer the 11 questions asked by the blogger who nominated me, and then ask 11 questions of my own. So, let's jump right in, shall we?

More information than you ever wanted to know about Jessica Greene

11 Facts about Me!

  1.  I'm a planner- I like to have everything figured out down to a timetable and task list. However, I get such a rush out of spontaneity and surprise- my heart just can't take too much of it.

  2. I absolutely LOVE scary movies, but would rather die than go through a haunted house. If there's even the slightest chance a ride might be scary, I'll pass (No thank you, Alice in Wonderland ride at Disneyland!)

  3. I am an independent, strong-willed woman, but swoon during every RomCom film where the guy takes the lead and pursues. All a gal wants is to feel important- that's the key, guys. Make her feel important. And chocolate is good, too.

  4. I'm super critical of my laugh. Could it be more ridiculous and ugly sounding? I don't think so.

  5. When I was a youngster and people asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I always said a singing missionary. I think back and wonder why I said that, and I think it's because I found two things I was good at- singing and loving/serving people. It would be awesome to still go to another country and serve, but I know that I can sing my praises and be a servant no matter my location.

  6. I love driving with friends. I'll road trip any day. Day trip to McCall? Let's do it. Weekend trip to Seattle? I'm there.

  7. I love my family, but am pretty sick of the place I live. That's why I wrote up a proposal for work that got accepted and will be transferring to Chattanooga, TN for the summer to do my internship. Heat, humidity, country music- I look forward to every part of it!

  8. In addition to #7, I'm scared out of my mind to be alone over in TN without any friends. Going someplace and not knowing anyone can be fun, but long term, very lonely. Skype me often, yes?

  9. Although I love knowing people read my blog (thank you!) and I am now accepting photography clients, I do both things for me. Through the whole journey of blogging and learning more about photography, I've learned so much about myself and it's even strengthened my relationship with God and, in turn, with the people around me. I'm a much better person when I blog and take pictures.

  10. I'm pretty busy. I'm assistant homecoming chair for the University of Idaho, I'm a member of SArb, I work 18 hours a week, I'm in school 15 hours a week, I'm a high school youth group leader, I manage and shoot for Chai Tea Photography, and I feed my Netflix habit often. Makes for a busy week, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

  11. But, in addition to #10, I love people. I love meeting people, fostering relationships, and making my friends feel important and loved. I also love chai tea. Let's get some, sometime.

My answers to the questions asked by Brooke over at her blog, simply brooke!

  • what's something that makes you cringe and why? (origin...?)
Something that makes me cringe? hmm... probably when I think back on conversations or things that I've done. Like, you know how you get in the moment sometimes and say or do something completely ridiculous (dear God, did I really put a valentine marked "anonymous admirer" in that boys locker?) or make that really stupid face or accidentally slap the boy you like in the face because you were making way too many enthusiastic hand gestures... I'm cringing so much right now. Ugh.

  • what's your ideal lady-date?
Lady-date... meaning date with a lady friend? Not a boyfriend? (I mean, comeon, I've got so much experience there...). Hmm... well, what I love most about all my girlfriends are the conversations we have. From religion to our futures to boys to how we should paint or nails, I love absolutely every word we share. With my girls, the ideal date would be a night in with take and bake pizza, a roll of cookie dough, and a couple redbox movies.

  • fictional character you identify most with (think: television)?
Wow! What a hard one! Well, I'm currently watching season 3 of Lost (third time through- still have no idea what's going on) and I think I really connect with Jack the Doctor. He's kind of the mother-hen to the rest of the group- concerned not just about his own safety  but the safety of the group. Everyone crashes on this island, and just because he had a couple quick answers right at the beginning, everyone on the entire island starts following him like he's been stranded on the island before ("Yeah, well the last island I was stranded on, we tried to build a raft and it didn't go so well..."). I feel like I'm a bit of a natural leader and am a huge mother-hen, but I'm also far too familiar with the overwhelming burden of leadership. At this moment, Jack is leading everyone up to the cell tower in escape from the hostiles, so right on, Male-TV version me, keep 'em safe!

  • how did you entertain yourself at recess?
Funny story- in elementary school, I had no friends. I know a lot of people say this, but I honestly had no friends. So, one day, I was complaining to my Mom about how no one wanted to be my friend, and she suggested that I take Jacks to recess with me. And, oh boy, you'd think I was a meth dealer in a dark alley! The kids swarmed to me so fast, I was teaching everyone how to play Jacks and I've never felt so popular- to this day. Maybe it's time to pull out those Jacks again...

  • favorite meal + restaurant in the history of ever?
I'm a HUGE Mexican food fan! So, my favorite meal was your basic house burrito in PV, Mexico that I enjoyed on our last family cruise. I spent quite some time trying to convince my family to leave me there. No such luck.

  • brag-town: what's your biggest feat...ever?
I'm still holding fast to my new years resolution! For the very first time, it's 4 months later and although I've had my days where I didn't do so well, I still have the overall goal in mind and can't wait to see where I'll be in a year from now.

  • if you could give yourself five years ago some advice, what would it be?
I would advise myself to learn how to flirt in jr. high and high school when it was ok to be awkward at it. Now I'm just an oddball adult making twitchy eye movements at the next car over. Does the university offer classes on this?

  • what's your favorite habit that you have?
Favorite habit... er... uh... bushing my teeth? haha. All I can think about are my bad habits. Every morning I trip on the clothes I stripped off right before climbing into bed. I mean, it's called a hamper, right? Come on, Jessica! My face would appreciate it if I started using it correctly.

  • you are having a bad day and need to get out of it: what do you do?
hmm... if it was a really bad day, I swing by Winco on my way home and grab an extra large bag of dark chocolate covered raisins and a liter of diet coke and go home to my flannel pajamas and turn on The Office. Dwight's eloquent sarcasm and Jim's hair are usually enough to heal my wounds.

  • what's your earliest memory?
My memory is definitely not going to win me any awards. My earliest memory is from 3rd grade when I was playing with my grade school friend out on the Elementary playground and we were pretending to be gymnasts; swinging from bar to bar on the monkey bars. However, I am not a gymnast. And this realization hit me just as hard as my nose met the very last bar and I ended the day with a blood stained shirt and nap in the nurses office.

And now, 11 questions for you! If you are a blogger, feel free to accept the Liebster Award, answer the questions, and pass it on!

  1. What do you never leave your house without?

  2. It's Friday night and all your friends are out of town- what do you do?

  3. Heels or sneakers?

  4. What book have you read the most?

  5. Zombie Apocalypse just hit! Think fast- where do you go first?

  6. Who knows the most about you?

  7. Most embarrassing moment? Don't spare any details!!

  8. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

  9. B&W or Color photos?

  10. Favorite scary movie?! I need to expand my to-watch list a bit. (thanks in advanced!)

  11. Favorite outfit right now?

Happy Monday!

p.s. if you actually read all of this, seriously let me know. You deserve a sincere hug or leftover Easter Cadbury egg. or both. We can figure that out later.

About me

About Me

I smile big and laugh with my whole belly.

I like boat rides on the water, pretty mountains, and red wine.

I have photographed weddings, senior photos, parties, families, and much, much more - and it remains to be a fun hobby I get to explore and improve on every day.

This blog is to document my travels, organize my portfolio of photography work, and chronicle a small amount of my thoughts.
